Marlin is a content sharing platform for consumer devices and multimedia services that is based on open standards. Marlin enables:

• Content, service and device providers to deliver multimedia entertainment to consumers in a seamless and compelling fashion, and
  
  
• Consumers to interact and share their content in a manner that is natural and consistent with traditional entertainment experiences.

Marlin specifications allow seamless portability of licensed content across the devices and services in a consumer’s home or personal domain and flexible business models.

Currently, Marlin specifications support broadband, broadcast/IPTV, and mobile delivery services. The Marlin core system specification provides seamless functionality to consumers when they move licensed content across different devices and services in their home network. The Marlin specifications are available to developers who wish to build their own advanced, trusted and flexible content sharing systems.

The Marlin platform expands beyond confined PC-centric models, offers flexible business models, and enables consumers to have an intuitive experience by keeping complexity out of consumer devices.
