Beijing and Sunnyvale, Calif., June 28, 2011 – Chinese Television IT services leader China Television Information Technology (Beijing) Company, or CTVIT, today announced that it has joined the Marlin Partner Program (MPP). The MPP is a technology solutions development and marketing program consisting of over 40 leading technology solutions providers and system integrators who provide solutions based on the open Marlin DRM standard.

CTVIT’s joining the MPP is another win in the global adoption of Marlin technology. Several national Internet TV initiatives have selected Marlin DRM, including in the UK, Italy, and France. Marlin-based technologies are also a prominent part of ChinaDRM, the Chinese national DRM standard.

“Over several years, we have developed significant expertise in technology solutions based on Marlin DRM,” said Jianxin Xu, CEO of CTVIT. “DRM is an important technology for protecting consumer and content provider rights, and we are well positioned to be the leading technology provider in China for this exciting technology.”

As Internet TV distribution is growing in China, the protection of content owner rights and maintaining harmony in the value chain becomes a key requirement. The Chinese market represents a significant subscriber community with sophisticated rights management and consumer privacy protection requirements. China is also a market where open standards play a dominant role, and technology openness is a key design feature.

“The Marlin Partner Program welcomes CTVIT as our primary partner for Chinese national TV deployments,” said Talal Shamoon, Chairman of the Marlin Developer Community (MDC). “We have worked closely with CCTV and CTVIT, and we are confident that they will lead the way with solutions for the Chinese market.”

CTVIT, a CCTV owned subsidiary, was established in 2006 to provide technology services and engage in research and development projects for digital media. In recent years, the company has undertaken several major projects for government agencies and broadcasters, such as the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television, CCTV and BTV, and in areas such as multimedia content management, multimedia content protection, content production management, and web TV. CTVIT has built a world-class team and accumulated a wealth of technical expertise at new media and IT service for media.
